Say Goodbye

The penultimate day, Monday the 15. 10, was hard for everyone. We were lucky not to spend a school day as planned. The morning was mostly spent with Henna painting, packing suitcases and shopping. Around 14:00 o’clock we should meet for a party at the school. Traditionally dressed and armed with lots of food, the last one arrived against three. After various teachers and the headmistress had made speeches, the word was given to the families. They had received the order to prepare something for the goodbye. Many speeches enticed a few tears, dances and a traditional drum piece were performed. Afterwards the buffet was plundered and many photos were taken, certificates and gifts were handed over. After the Macarena and Moskau were danced together, the first set off. In the evening the last henna arts were finished and the last family members were visited. Some had the privilege to sleep a few more hours, others stayed awake. Because around 2:00 o’clock on 16. 10. we should gather at the airport, around 2:40 o’clock the last ones were there.

I don’t think anyone’s found it easy to go. There was no one who didn’t wipe off a few tears in secret. But at some point we had to leave hugs if we wanted to get back to Germany. And one thing’s for sure: we see us again. At least once next year. But I think that some connections will stay a lifetime, and that this was not the last visit to India.
