The visit to Taj Mahal by Hanna, Shishir and Tanuj

Taj Mahal:
On Saturday, the 6th of October, all German and Indian students and teachers met at Bal Bharati School at 5 am and then went by bus to Agra which took 4 hours. It was exciting to see Delhi at night and see how the rising sun brought more and more life to the city. After 2 hours driving we left the city and came to more rural areas, where we got new impressions.
When we finally arrived in Agra at 9, the sun was already very high and it was very hot.
After we got our ticket and went through the security check, a nice guy came to guide us through the first gate. He told us a lot about the historical background and the love story of the King of Agra. King Shah Jahan loved his wife Mumtaz Mahal very much. She gave birth to 14 children, but after her last pregnancy she became ill and died. Since Shah Jahan loved his dead wife so much, he built a tomb for her wife known that is known as Taj Mahal. It turned out to be the perfect epitome of love and beauty. It was built in 17 years using materials from around the world. After being imprisoned in his own palace for 8 years, Shah Jahan passed away and was buried next to his wife in the Taj Mahal.
It is amazing to stand in front of this big building. I’ve rarely seen anything so beautiful, and it’s no wonder that the Taj Mahal is one of the 7 wonders of the modern world.
We had plenty of time in the beautiful parks in front of the Taj Mahal to take pictures, which we used until the last minute. Then we went to the Taj Mahal as a whole group and marvelled at the admirable architecture and looked at the couple’s tomb.
Shortly after noon we left exhausted but very happy to eat in the restaurant and go shopping in a traditional Indian shop.
Then we visited the palace of King Shah Jahan, the Red Fort. We saw beautiful gardens and ancient walls and were also in the room where the king was imprisoned for 8 years.
Toward evening we left the Red Fort again and took the bus back to Delhi, where we were greeted warmly by our host parents.
It was an unforgettable day!
