On Friday, June 14, 2024, we went on an excursion to the biogas plant at Heinzebank. We met at 8:00 AM at Marienberg Gymnasium and we set off on foot. After a pleasant walk, we arrived at the biogas plant at 9:25 AM.
The tour began with a detailed explanation of how the biogas plant works. We learned how organic waste is fermented to produce biogas, which is then used to generate electricity and heat.
Next, we toured the facility and received a guided tour of the engine room, where we took a closer look at the technology. During the tour, we also saw the calves and cows that are kept on the premises.
Later, we observed the milking machine in action. It was exciting to see how modern technology makes the milking process efficient and gentle for the animals.
The tour ended at 11:00 AM, after which we concluded our excursion and began the journey back to school.
