VISIT TO INDIA GATE by Sandra and Mehak

We visited India Gate on 9th October 2018 as a part of our Delhi tour in the HoHo bus. It is a war memorial located in Rajpath, New Delhi . Designed by the famous architect Sir Edward Lutyen , it stands as a memorial to 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died during the First World War.

 

 

Image result for india gateThe memorial was established on 10 February 1921 and unveiled on 12 February 1931. The best time to visit India Gate is amid summers and generally after the sunset so as to view the illuminated India gate . The place is also famous for the Amar Jawan Jyoti, or the flame of the immortal soldier. It is manned round the clock by soldiers.

 

Republic Day is grandly celebrated here on 26th January every year.
